A Statement from The Core at Corby Cube on Black Lives Matter

The Core at Corby Cube stands united to denounce racism in all its forms. We are conscious that racism has an ugly presence in this country and that there is much more to be done to ensure equality for all.

There is no place for racism in the arts or anywhere else in our society and as an arts organisation at the heart of our community, we are aware of the need for conversation and action to continue past lockdown and into the months and years ahead.

Race inequality is a serious issue that must be addressed alongside inequality across class, gender, disability, sexuality and religion.

Whilst as an organisation we have always strived to represent the broadest communities we serve with the work we produce and present both on and off our stages, we are aware that there is still so much more we need to do.

We are committed to:

  • Reshaping our board to ensure that it is diverse and representative of our community
  • Improve diversity as we continually develop our staff teams, freelance artists and contractors
  • Further strive for diversity in the work that we present on our stages, working even harder to give a platform to voices that are often unheard or under represented.
  • We will listen to our peers and our communities to educate ourselves and at regular intervals we will look back on our progress and hold ourselves to account.

The time for change is now.
